Typography
In the text I used both black and red, the words which are
more important are in red so people who read it will understand the importance
of it, e.g. the words vote, voice and say are in red because they are words
which relate to the topic so people can catch them easily. Also it will help
people who are driving to pick up what it is about because they may find it
hard if they have to read a paragraph driving 50 mph on the motor way. The
title is in red because red is a colour used for emergency or danger and this
is what the title is trying to do as it says ‘UNIVERSITY FEES ARE RISING…’
which in many peoples mind is dangerous. Also it is more likely to catch the
reader’s attention. All the text is at the top because it is an important part
of the ad and people are less likely to read it if it is at the bottom. I have
also made the text large because people may not be able to read it if it is too
small this may cause people to find it hard to understand the point of the
advert.
Images
The image of the books are dark because they stand out from
the back ground which makes it easier to see, this is important because they
may not the images provide a visual aid for people who see the advert, also
this shows the importance of the image as they stand out. I have made sure the
images are not too large because this may take the attention away from the text
and the ballot paper but not so small that it becomes too hard to see. I have
lowered the opacity of the background image because it this puts the emphasis
on the title, text and images I have been careful to not change the opacity so
much that it becomes too hard to see as it still provides an importance in the
advert. The ballot paper is in the middle because people can see it more
clearly and they can read the text clearly.
Logo
I have made the vote the vote booster logo red because it is
one of main colours used in the advert so it blends in well. I have put both
the logos in the bottom left and right corners because it is least likely to draw
attention away from the text.
Overall/semiotics
The title has an ellipsis because people will want to read on
to find out about the university fees. I have put two pieces of text, the left
one infers that without a vote you have no say and you will be losing money and
the right one infers that with a vote you can have a say as to what the price
for fees are leaving you with more money to spend on resources for your
education. The two bits of text have been placed on either side of the advert
because I needed to keep them separated to stop people from being confused.
There is an image underneath the two pieces of text, the left one is an image
of a worn out folder and a broken pen as this links with the text also this
helps put emphasis on the type of resources you will have to use while studying
and that if they don’t vote they don’t receive a voice so people will want to
avoid having to use resource like them to learn and the right one has an image
of a large pile of books and good resources as a way of stressing the
importance of voting which is what the text it is connected to is about also it
glamorises the effects of a decrease in university fees and voting can help you
have a say about it. The images are placed underneath the text to provide some
visual aid as to what the text is about. There is an image of a ballot paper in
the middle, I have done this because they give you two options vote and have a
say about university which will allow you to have more money two spend on
resources or don’t and use cheap and unreliable resources and have already put
an x next to the one which says to vote as people will think that it is the
obvious choice and wouldn’t consider the other option. I have placed the ballot
paper in the middle separating the two piece of text because this gives it the
effect that there are two sides of the argument.
